I don't buy that for a second. The point of the PSP Go a few years back was to test the waters to see if consumers were ready for an all-digital console. The resounding response was a big fat "NO", and Sony got the message and came up with the PS4 which uses discs. A digital-only PS5 would spell a complete disaster for the brand, so no, I really don't think they'll do that, nor do I want it, or the vast majority of gamers want it, for that matter.
It doesn't matter much no, for once I agree with M. Pachter, but on the condition that we can read our own media files, including 4K videos of course, from an external hard disk drive (which has to be formatted as ExFAT I believe).

THE game that made me buy a PS2 back then! Until then the likes of The Bouncer, Tekken Tag Tournament, Fantavision or Ridge Racer 5 hadn't convinced me, but that game did. And it was cheap to boot, some 15€/$ less than the regular price for a new game! What a blast I had playing it. That game made videogames evolve drastically, much much much more than all the other (console) games.
Damn, that makes me want the PS4 Pro even more. If even the mainstream press, usually so nitpicky about anything Sony and Playstation, is convinced, that goes to show you Sony's worksheet is an A+.

Procedural generation is-partly at least-the future of future video games. Not having to redo the same dungeons over and over, or visit the same planets over and over, keeps the gamers' interest piqued. I understand how some people feel about NMS, but procedural generation is stellar (nudge, nudge) tech, and shouldn't be blamed for the game's few shortcomings.

If you don't think Skyrim on the normal PS4 looks good, wait until you see it on the normal Xbox One, or S, as those are a lot more limited than even the normal PS4 technically.

Very very long and very very interesting article, thank you eurogamer for once, though I have the feeling that is rather due to the fact EG was interviewing Mark Cerny, who seems to be a really nice and interesting guy. It's nice to know he's now on Sony's payroll. With him aboard I'm not too concerned about the success of the PS4 Pro. That just made me want that PS4 on steroids even more!
